Tent fabric offcuts turned into bags through #TentTotes upcycling project
In an effort to continuously reduce waste and its environmental footprint, our parent company NRS International has launched #TentTotes, an upcycling project that promotes sustainable humanitarian supply chain while raising awareness to things that matter.
The tote project came into fruition following the successful launch of our #PeaceDoves campaign on World Peace Day, promoting peace through handcrafted dove-shaped toys made from refugee blanket and tarpaulin offcuts.
A bag full of hope
Proudly produced in Pakistan, the #TentTotes are made from upcycled tent material offcuts such as polycotton and mud flap fabric. These are the same clothing used from the same tents that keep refugees, for example in Afghanistan, Syria or Yemen, safe and warm.
The #TentTote is super strong and waterproof, an ideal bag for every humanitarian on the go. Its main materials are polycotton offcuts from UNHCR-standard family tent.
Straps are made from sturdy bag material and bag handles, and all-seams reinforcement in white, cross stitched at the top of the bag for strength. The base of the bag is made from mud flap fabric. It comes in two basic designs: a shopper bag and a tote with laptop pouch. Logo design and layout can be customized.

Inspired by SDG #12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) and international corporate sustainability trends, we are taking a stronger grip on our social and environmental indicators. With the #PeaceDoves and #TentTotes projects, we hope organizations will support us in extending the lifespan of these products.
